The library of Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications after Gumarbek Daukeev

The library was founded in 1997 on the basis of book funds of Kazakh polytechnic institute named after V.I.Lenin and Almaty Power Engineering Institute. 

This is the one of the largest technics library in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Mission if the AUPET library is aimed at providing support for the educational process and scientific researches at the University by creating the necessary conditions for prompt access to the library's resources and world information resources.

The total library fund consist of 452 675 copies, including 163 060 copies in Kazakh and 6 755 copies in other foreign languages. More than 66 titles of magazines and newspapers are issued annually. 

Since January 2023, the Automated Integrated library system "MegaPro" has been installed in the library.

ABIS “MegaPro” is a web-system of new generation that can be used both in a traditional and “cloud” versions. The work with any module is realized through web-interface and can be made both in computer network and remotely, from anywhere on the Internet.

Library is the center of knowledge, culture and intellectual development of the youth. With the help of the student art and literary club “Ulagat” and Social Disciplines and Language studies departments, the library hold the mass events for significant dates, meetings with famous people, literature evenings and conferences.

The library actively holds the thematic book exhibitions on the AUPET web-site, social media, reading rooms and university halls. 

The total area of the library - 1078.9 m2, overall seats - 226.

For the Library users there are 31 computers, 1 video projector, and 1 portable screen for various events. In the electronic reading room “Media library” there are several copy machines and scanners, which can help the users of “Media library” to scan the right pages of chosen literature for free and they can send it to their mail or to the USB flash drive.

The service department organizes differentiated services for students, undergraduates, doctoral students, teaching staff and university staff, readers from other organizations and institutions on subscriptions and in reading rooms, as well as on an interlibrary subscription (ILS). At all points of delivery of the service department, an automated record of readers and book distribution is conducted.

Subscription (A-236)

Subscribing to the library and taking textbooks home is organized at the Subscription (A-236). Literature is given for the entire period of study in the disciplines (semester, course) and must be handed over before the start of summer holidays.

Technical reading room № 1 (A-127)

The technical reading room has book funds of about eighteen thousand copies and 120 seats for readers.

Humanitarian Reading Room № 2 named after E. Sypatayev (А-127)

Humanitarian Reading Room № 2 named after E. Sypatayevprovide students with textbooks and educational materials for the disciplines of the social and humanitarian module.

Reference and information center No. 4 (A-121)

At the Reference and information center, readers can get acquainted with the latest periodicals - socio-political and mass newspapers and professional and scientific-practical magazines. Here librarians will help you to get comprehensive information about new books, find literature on the topic and determine the index of UDC, MRNTI.

Electronic reading room “Media Library” (A-125)

Students can get access to the Internet and electronic information resources in the electronic reading room “Media Library” (A-125). The library has implemented a system of using university unified identification cards of employees and students of the university (ID card) as library cards. In the “Media librart” there is the full-text base of educational and teaching literature «Altyn Bet» and an extensive collection of educational literature on CD-ROMs are also located there. 

The university library has an agreement on information services with the RIEB and Urait.

Educational platform “Urait” is an educational resource, electronic library and online store. Here you can read and buy electronic and printed textbooks by authors - lecturers of leading universities for all levels of professional education. Here you can also use video and audio materials, testing and services for faculty. They are available 24 hours 7 days a week.

RMEB (Republican Interuniversity Electronic Library), is provides access to the use of combined information resources of university libraries of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
