LESSONS OF QUARANTINE: NEED FOR SPECIALISTS OF A NEW FORMAT

On 05/19/2020 an online seminar at the AUPET named after Gumarbek Daukeev on the topic "Production activities of JSC “Alatau Zharyk Kompaniyasy” during the quarantine period and the new tasks of AUPET in training specialists for electric networks and systems", organized by the department "Electric Stations and Electric Power Systems", was held.

Vice-rector for scientific and innovative activities Saukhimov Almaz Abzhalelovich delivered a welcoming speech from the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeev.

It should be noted that JSC “Alatau Zharyk Kompaniyasy” is the largest and only company in the transmission and distribution of electricity in the Almaty and Almaty region. Therefore, in his speech Sagyndykov B.K. told about the main issues of production management, emphasized certain non-standard solutions for the organization of operation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment during the quarantine period. He touched on the necessary measures to reduce the staff and the withdrawal of individual employees and engineers on remote forms of interaction.

The immediate issues of operation, prevention of emergency situations and unscheduled repairs, taking into account the observance of quarantine measures, were raised by N.K. Adilbekov, Deputy Chief Engineer.

A significant change in the nature of electric loads, the balance of capacities in the region and the mode of operation of electric networks, including dispatch services, were noted in his speech by A. Abdrakhmanov.

In turn, the teaching staff of the Department of "Electric Stations and Electric Power Systems" introduced the guests to the changes in the educational process of the university. It was noted that in 2019, the Distance Learning Center was created at the university. This allowed us to quickly and painlessly transfer the educational process to quarantine online.

Representatives of the production were informed about the new educational program "Electric Power Systems" and with the new disciplines introduced in IT technology. Representatives of  JSC “Alatau Zharyk Kompaniyasy became interested in the features of educational programs and the disciplines of IP Basics, Construction of Internet Networks and Basics of Building SCADA Systems in the Electric Power Industry. They emphasized the ongoing change in the technology of the electric power industry, the emergence of a need for specialists in a new format, who must have knowledge of such disciplines.

Director of the Institute of Electrical Engineering and Electric Power Abdimuratov Zh.S. said that the new realities require the training of specialists who can work locally, be disciplined. During the seminar, senior students asked questions to production representatives about employment, vacancies, job features, salaries and benefits for young professionals.

Vice-rector Saukhimov A.A. emphasized the importance of cooperation between our organizations in the educational process and scientific activities. He noted that the university is ready to attract leading specialists of JSC “Alatau Zharyk Kompaniyasy” for conducting practical classes for undergraduate and graduate students.

At the end of the online seminar, the participants weren’t in a hurry to disconnect, sharing their impressions, and also expressing their gratitude to the organizers for the meeting in a new format.
